Sport, arts and culture
Most questions here are matching questions: name to sport, event, stadium or cultural field.
Test atoms
Learn these as compact name-link facts. Then practise recognising the same fact in different wording.
| Atom | Watch out for |
|---|---|
| Roger Bannister first ran a mile in under four minutes | Learn the one person → achievement link. |
| Bobby Moore captained England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team | Bobby Moore = football, not athletics. |
| Mary Peters won Olympic gold in 1972 | Mary Peters is a sport name. |
| The Ashes is a cricket competition between England and Australia | The Ashes is cricket, not rugby. |
| Six Nations is a rugby union competition | Six Nations is rugby, not football. |
| Royal Ascot is a horse-racing event | Ascot and Grand National are horse racing. |
| BAFTA is linked to British film awards | BAFTA is film, not sport. |
What not to over-learn first
- Do not learn full biographies first. Learn name → sport, event, or cultural field.
- Do not mix sports: Ashes = cricket; Six Nations = rugby union; Royal Ascot = horse racing.
Spot the correct statement

- Roger Bannister first ran a mile in under four minutes.
- Bobby Moore captained England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team.
- The Ashes is linked to cricket.
